Metallica signed Master of Puppets era promo photo with Cliff Burton & drumstick
I’m moving to Seattle at the end of October, so this is the only week I’ll list this. So if you’d like to own this, here is your chance. Time to let it go to a true fan. This is an original Elektra Records promo photo signed during the Master of Puppets era with Cliff Burton. The photo was a gift to Barry Fey’s company, Feyline concert promotions out of Colorado in the 80’s (Google him for some music history). I worked in music for years and acquired it through a former employee of his and later colleague of mine. The photo was not cared for as it should have been, but who knew Metallica would become METALLICA and Cliff would pass so young. There is yellowing around the edges (frame pretty much hides it) and there are several very small scratches to the photo (most notably on Cliff’s face and on part of Lars’ signature and 86′). I was told it had been in a frame that had broken during a move and glass had caused these scratches. I’ve had it framed for about 15 years and it’s hung on my wall ever since. It is without the most talked about piece in my memorabilia room (I’ll send you a photo if you care to see it). As a bonus, I’m going to include one of Lars’ used drumsticks and ticket stub from their Denver concert where the stick came from. I’m doing this, as I was a guest of Barry Fey’s office that night and on the ticket it says “Barry Fey & HOB Presents”. I thought this was a nice way to tie the piece together. People sometimes ask why Lars wrote Feyline -Thanx! , well you can tell them Feyline was the promoter who would have booked Colorado and surrounding concerts for Metallica back in the day. So that’s what I can tell you. I expect the price to go high on this one. I’ll pack everything very well, so it arrives like it looks now. Because of the value of this photo, I’m going to send it with signature confirmation, so it’s not just left outside by the post office.
